The Volcanoes of the World database released by the Smithsonian Institution and United States Geological Survey (USGS) describe the physical characteristics of volcanoes and their eruptions. The data includes eruption type, maximum Volcanic Explosivity Index, start and end dates (when known), and the type of evidence for the eruption. Resource Watch shows only a subset of the data set. For access to the full data set and additional information, see the Learn More link.
